London Marathon 2011
by Anna Mathers

On 17th April I will be running the London Marathon in order to raise money for Jessica Mathers Trust, Bench Outreach and TCF.
The Jessica Mathers Trust (JMT) has been set up in memory of my younger sister Jessica, who died in a road accident nearly four years ago now. She was aged just 13.
The purpose of JMT is to support homeless people, and those whose lives have been disrupted by premature bereavement.
Jessica would have turned 18 on the 12th April this year, so the Marathon is just five days earlier.
Jessica was a very bright young girl, with lots of plans and ideas on what she wanted to do. She was just in the process of choosing her GCSE options before she died. She wanted to do Art/Graphics and Fashion Design. She had her whole future ahead of her.
All I can say now is - Jessica, you had better be watching me when I run the Marathon. I know she will be though, because she is always there keeping an eye on everything.
The money raised will be split equally between JMT, TCF and Bench.

Sponsored Bike Ride, 29 September
Jazz musician and actor George Khan will be riding his bike home from Bristol to Reading to raise funds for TCF. George plans to leave the Tobacco Factory during the evening of 29 September after the final production of his play 'The Detective Show. He will then bike to Devizes for an overnight stop before progressing to his home in Reading. George wanted to support the work of TCF, having known himself the pain and tragedy of losing his own son, Daniel, twenty years ago when Daniel was only thirteen.

London Marathon, 25 April
This years Marathon day is Sunday the 25th April. My son Sam was born on a Marathon day in Guys Hospital, Tower Bridge and all the runners could be seen from my delivery suite. He died from an accident just before he's first bithday and TCF became a huge support for me, I eventually went on to become an area contact for TCF. The work I did with TCF ultimately led to me becoming a qualified counsellor. This year would have been Sams 21st Birthday and since I took up running a couple of years ago I felt that running the Marathon for Sam and for TCF seemed the most fitting tribute.

Hi, our names are Paula Matthews and Claire Moore and on 9th May 2010 we will be participating in the Bristol 10K. We are hoping to raise as much as we can for TCF. There are 2 main reasons we have chosen this charity, the first being that Paula's sister Julia Barter works in the National office and the second is that we really believe in the work that the charity does and if we can help it will be our privilege. People that know us will say that we are NOT the most active people but if we can beat last year’s time of 1 hour 36 minutes and raise money then we will try.
