TCF Gathering Information
We will be returning for our third visit to Bosworth Hall Hotel for this years Annual Gathering. This beautiful country mansion with its superb grounds, facilities and staff, will enable you to relax, meet old friends and make new ones.
There will be a programme of discussion groups, therapies and a keynote speaker throughout the three days but it will be up to you how much or how little you take part in. The object of the weekend is to give you time away from every day life, to reflect and to meet other bereaved parents, grandparents and siblings.
William Roache MBE, who plays Ken Barlow in Coronation Street, will be the Keynote Speaker at this years' Gathering. He will be talking about how he has coped since the death of his daughter, and will be helping to launch TCF Bereavement Awareness Week.
Registration will be from 3pm on Friday, Later there will be an opportunity for those attending a TCF Gathering for the first time to meet with a member of the Gathering Team to talk through the programme and suggest ways to get the most from the weekend.
After breakfast on Saturday you will have an opportunity to hear our Keynote Speaker (to be arranged) following our theme for the weekend, "Steps towards tomorrow".
Following on through the morning will be a programme of discussion groups covering many of the issues surrounding the loss of a child or sibling. In the afternoon relax in the leisure centre, visit local places of interest, or simply spend time in the hotel and its grounds with friends. Several workshops are also planned on the work done by The Compassionate Friends at both local and national level, and ways that you can get involved. There will be a TCF Shop, run by the National Office staff, available throughout the weekend where you will be able to buy books and other helpful items.
On Sunday morning we will remember and celebrate our children's lives with the lighting of candles, music and poetry. The morning will continue with further discussion groups. A formal ecumenical service will be available at St Stephens Church located nearby.
After lunch the Closing Ceremony will give you a chance to reflect on the weekend, say goodbyes and bring the Gathering to a close.
A special TCF rose garden and memorial bench in the grounds of Bosworth Hall is dedicated to our beloved children. The rose garden was planted, at the hotel's expense, in 2000.
