Create an In-Memory Fund

Create a fund here

Create a personalised fund in your name or the child, sibling or grandchild.

Here you can create a special fund in memory of your child or loved one. Your fund will be dedicated to raising funds for the vital work of The Compassionate Friends and help us to continue our support for bereaved parents and their families. Your fund will leave a lasting legacy and ensure that bereaved parents and siblings have access to quality peer support now and in the future.

What is an In-Memory Fund?

By creating a dedicated fund in the name of your loved one, you provide a positive way for family, friends and the wider community to join together to do something that offers support to you and your family and allows The Compassionate Friends to continue their work with bereaved parents and siblings. Our support can be a lifeline for parents or siblings who have experienced the loss of a precious and beloved child or brother or sister. However, to continue to reach out to those families who need us, we also need your support.

“We’d have honestly been lost without TCF – especially in those early unbearable days, weeks & months” G, bereaved mum, Cumbria

This charity does amazing things. The sibling retreat they organised this weekend has helped me massively and I feel so much comfort from meeting other siblings who have been bereaved. They offer so much support” G, bereaved sibling

100% of the monies raised by your fund will be spent on furthering our charitable objectives of offering support to bereaved parents and their families and raising awareness of the needs of bereaved families.

How do In-Memory Funds work?

With an In-Memory Fund you have control over your fundraising in memory of your son or daughter, brother or sister, or grandchild. You can choose how you wish to raise funds and when. This could be anything from bake sales and coffee mornings, to marathons or sky dives or organising events such as golf days, cinema nights or even music festivals! You can also encourage your friends, family and colleagues to donate directly to the fund in memory of your loved one – just by giving them the link.

We can provide you with a list of donors to your In-Memory Fund so that you can thank them yourself or we can thank them for you.

Why should I set up a special In-Memory Fund with The Compassionate Friends?

When a child dies often family, friends and the wider community want to support parents and family; fundraising is a great way for them to do this. Setting up a special In-Memory Fund creates a focus to bring everyone together to raise vital funds to support bereaved families in the name of your son or daughter, brother or sister, or grandchild

By setting up a special fund, you have all the benefits of being your own charity, but without the administrative hassles and costs. There are no legal hassles, donations can be made easily and securely and we keep you updated on the total amount you have raised. We also handle Gift Aid.

By coming together we can dedicate even more funds to supporting bereaved parents and families. All the funds raised through your fund will be used to support our peer support of bereaved parents and siblings.

What can I name a fund?

We recommend the fund be named in memory of the person the fund is remembering. For instance 'The Name Tribute Fund', 'The Name Memorial Appeal', 'Name’s Fund'. When you are creating your fund the web page address cannot have spaces e.g.firstnamesurnamefund or firstname-surname-tribute-fund. If you add spaces the page will not be able to take donations.

Who decides where the funding is spent?

All the funds you raise will be spent where the need is greatest in order to deliver our charitable objectives of offering support to bereaved parents and their families and raising awareness of the needs of bereaved families.

However, you are able to request that your funds are allocated to be spent in a particular area, such as on support for bereaved siblings or in a particular region and we will try to ensure this happens.

How much do I need to raise?

There's no minimum fundraising target, or expectation you will raise a certain amount each year. Some of our funds are very active, and some are smaller, and that's absolutely fine. Every penny you raise will help us make a difference to bereaved families.

Can I take a break from fundraising for a fund?

Of course! We understand that everyone's situation changes and that you may not always have the time to dedicate to fundraising and organising events. So please do feel free to take a break from fundraising whenever you need to.
