19 October 2024, 10.00 – 16.15

Armourers' Hall, London

This support day is now fully booked. Please contact us at info@tcf.org.uk if you would like to attend. Thank you.

This will be an opportunity to be together in a safe place to hear from and share with other fathers who have experienced the loss of a son or daughter, of any age and from any cause. This support day will be held at Armourers’ Hall in the City of London on Saturday 19 October, 10 am - 4.15 pm. The venue is very close to Moorgate tube station and Liverpool Street train and tube station so accessible to anyone who can get to London in time for the 10 am start (for example, last year a bereaved dad came from Bath to be with us at this unique event).

We would love you to come and meet with others who understand the pain of grief for a beloved child (aged 1 month to an adult child) and find support and understanding from each other and a team of volunteers who are bereaved fathers themselves.

The day will be a mixture of discussions and activities, including a guided walk in this interesting area of the City of London.

Here’s what fathers have said who came to the support day last year:

“This was my first experience of any kind of help group. I have not had any therapy. The second year was proving incredibly tough, and as we approached the second anniversary I felt I needed to at least hear from others in a similar situation. I would implore anyone who is struggling to attend. It is a super friendly non-judgmental environment and the only place you will meet complete strangers who understand exactly how you feel.

I had previously been on a number of TCF walks and I really enjoyed the walk. Walking side by side and talking to people is always excellent and a a number of fathers who had not been on walks said they could now see the benefit.

It is unusual to be in an environment where so many bereaved people are together, I felt very supported and very fortunate to be there.

Much of what I heard I already knew, or thought I knew, but not until you hear it in person does it have an impact. It will take time for me to fully digest and process the day”.

***

We are sorry but if you are less than 3 months bereaved, we ask that you wait until you are 3 months or more from your loss before accessing this support day.

Please note that our support days are run by bereaved parent volunteers. Our volunteers are not professionals and so what we offer is a uniquely warm, comforting and supportive day organised and facilitated by parents who have also experienced the loss of a child and have found understanding and hope themselves through The Compassionate Friends.
