Newsletter for Childless Parents | www.tcf.org.uk 9 ED: Thank you Bob Esdaile for these poems you wrote to remember your son Danny. My Darling Danny Boy although we are apart There will always be a place for you deep within my Heart Today it is you Birthday, it should be filled with Joy But you’re no longer with us our darling Danny Boy We miss your lovely laugh and the way your face would lift As you slowly opened your precious Birthday Gift It might have been an action figure or a Robot to transform We would sit and watch with awe at the wonders you’d perform Your Mum and I are lonesome as we pass through every day It all seems so pointless since God took you away Each day is long and lonely and life has lost its charms We’ll hold you in our hearts until we can hold you in our arms If only I could hold you I would be so glad Every day without you just makes me feel so sad If only I could see that lovely smile again Maybe for a moment it would ease my pain If only I could see you happy and at play Maybe all the heartache would finally go away If only I could hear your laugh and see your happy smiles Oh for that my lovely son I’d walk a million miles If only I could have saved you how wonderful that would be To know you were still here walking alongside me If only I could see your face and all the love it held Just to see you one more time it would mean the world But these are only wishes that will never come true I fear If only are the saddest words we will ever hear My Darling Danny Boy If Only
