He saw what he wanted and told me he paid no money, but persuaded her to swap it for something of his own. That beautiful piece of art is a hand painted beach pebble. I’d never seen such a thing before. It’s a sea scene, with a breaking wave, a red sky and the sun setting on the horizon, its rays reaching for the corners of the pebble. It’s perfect. Dylan knew me so very well! I love the sea and sunsets, and one of my names for Dylan is Sonshine. Dylan picked these two things for me and they are my most precious possessions. To me, these two small offerings from my son speak volumes about the young man he grew into. Dylan was passionate about everything he did. Sweet and gentle, with a fiery temper, he loved with all his heart. He had a knowing, a wisdom, a sensitivity, that made him very special. Nothing I’ve ever been given by anybody has meant as much to me as the shell and the pebble. They are my treasures now. Dylan, my loving child, my fearless adventurer, I miss you always.
