Compassion, Spring 2023

Spring 2023 - Compassion | tcf.org.uk 11 The Journey of The Mindful Teapot by Theodore Max Franklinos My son, Theo, died in August 2020 in a workplace incident. He fell through a roof which hadn’t been safeguarded. He was 30 years old. Theo enjoyed being creative and was always full of ideas. He had suffered with mental health problems from a young age and over the years found that meditation, mindfulness, and gratitude practice helped to manage his thoughts and feelings and deal with the ups and downs of life. He started work on ‘The Journey of The Mindful Teapot’ book in 2016 as a way for him to help process his thoughts and had dreamt about getting it published one day. Following his death, my daughter and I completed the book of ‘The Journey of the Mindful Teapot’ in his honour in the hope that his story about the benefits of mindfulness may help others faced with overwhelming life challenges. We published it through Amazon and its available online for £5.99. We get £1.54 per book in royalties which we’re giving to charities close to Theo’s heart. He had strong ties with a charity in Tanzania (MOTO) and we thought we’d also send some of the profits to mindfulness charities in the UK (e.g. youngminds.org.uk and youngmindfulness.co.uk) . If sales of ‘The Journey of the Mindful Teapot’ increase after writing about it in this magazine, then we will be happy to donate a fair proportion of the new royalties to The Compassionate Friends. Best wishes, Sue Daly If you would like to buy The Journey of The Mindful Teapot, by Theodore Max Franklinos it is available on Amazon at https://amzn.eu/d/ags4kkG
