Compassion, Spring 2023
Spring 2023 - Compassion | tcf.org.uk 7 it's called ‘The Poetry Pharmacy Returns’ by William Sieghart. This author takes all sorts of life's troubles and challenges and suggests a poem which might help. When it comes to the loss of a child he notes that he's never met a single bereaved parent who regretted having their child in their life despite the pain and grief they are living with. The poem was written by William Wordsworth after his young son had died and it's called ‘I Loved the Boy’ (p87) I loved the boy with the utmost love of which my soul is capable, And he is taken from me - Yet in the agony of my spirit in surrendering such a treasure I feel a thousand times richer than if I had never possessed it. Amen to that With love from Mary Let’s Learn to Relax While everyone is looking back on 2022 and/or looking forward to 2023, I'm going to give you my tuppence worth. Please let's all just try this... Relax. We don't all have to "face challenges”, "attain personal growth”, "achieve". Sometimes, "living your best life" can be just living in the moment. Whatever that moment brings. This striving to "achieve", "reach", "experience" is all very well but it can also be exhausting and draining. My hope for 2023, is to learn to relax and appreciate the quiet time. Peaceful 2023 everyone. Maria Ahern
