Compassion, Spring 2024
11 tcf.org.uk COMPASSION | MEMORY CORNER I would like a wee space to remember the most horrible day of the year, the 20th of April (1996), which this year marks the 28th anniversary of my Simon's drowning accident and also to say what should have been his 38th birthday on July 24th but he'll be forever nine. Miss you and love you forever, your Dad who'll never stop thinking of you. Remembering Simon Shared by Gerald Knight Remembering Debbie Shared by Joy Rooke Remembering Kevin Shared by Margaret Jenkins In loving memory of my only child, Kevin Peter Jenkins, who died on 26th March. 2011 aged 44 years. I miss your wicked sense of humour and witty one liners. What it meant to love you no-one will ever know. All my love Mum xxxx We lost our beautiful, wonderful, much wanted first child and daughter Debbie on 13th April 2013. Really we lost her on 11th as that afternoon her tragic accident happened when she was cycling and killed by an elderly man unconscious at the wheel of his car, who died at the scene. Debbie however was brain damaged but alive, unconscious we hope and pray, so not suffering. In fact we are sure once she hit the car window-screen she felt like she went straight to heaven. Debbie was 31yrs old and had achieved a lot in her short life. She was a committed Christian and practicing Catholic. Her love for others shone through in her voluntary service. She was a very good science teacher who cared for her pupils, with a first class honours degree in Bio-Chemistry and Biology plus other dyslexia qualifications, and was just about to start a Masters Degree. She was born on 22nd January 1982 Deborah Joy Rooke, followed by her brother Simon David Rooke on 12th April 1985. They were as close as a brother and sister could be and went out as friends too. Even after nearly 11yrs it is still hard, we miss her in so many ways. Our best friend and helper. She would have been 42 years if she had lived. However life goes on and to that end we live our lives as Debbie would have wanted. I run a bereaved parents support group which is part of TCF and has been running now for 9 years. Love from her parents Joy and David Rooke
