Compassion, Spring 2024

34 tcf.org.uk TCF NEWS | IN MEMORIAM In Memoriam David was a tall man, a Yorkshireman, a big man with a big heart, albeit a broken one. His gruff Yorkshire exterior woven around a caring nature and a desire to help others grieving the loss of a child or children. David and his wife Jean lost their son Robin unexpectedly when he was in his 20s. David put his energy and wisdom into helping others who were similarly bereaved, with great kindness. He was not only mourning his son but also nursing his wife, Jean, with dedication and devotion during this time. David was involved in the leaflet writing group for TCF for a number of years, and instrumental in bringing together a group of dedicated volunteers to create new leaflets, and revise and update existing offerings. Working alongside David for TCF, was a humbling experience. We were a small group writing for our charity and David guided us with passion, care and an eye for detail. David was instrumental in creating so many of the supportive leaflets that we continue to revise and distribute today and are such a comfort to bereaved parents, siblings and grandparents His voluntary work for TCF was of the highest standard, and a beautiful example of community spirit, helping others in the darkest of times. David’s absence will be felt but he will be remembered, and he will continue to inspire us to reach out a helping hand, and to offer words of compassion and hope to the bereaved.
