Compassion, Spring 2024

37 tcf.org.uk TCF NEWS | FUNDRAISING ROUND-UP Huge thanks to TCF volunteer, Sally Stowell, local support contact in Hythe, Kent and surrounding area, for enabling a recent donation to TCF of £5,750. This very generous donation came about when Sally designated TCF as her charity of the year for 2022 -2023 in her capacity as Lady Captain of Littlestone Golf Club in New Romney, Kent. Prostate Cancer UK was named by the Club’s Men’s Captain as their designated charity for the same year, also receiving the same amount. Ruth Mercier, our Volunteer and Helpline Manager was kindly invited by Sally and members of the Littlestone Golf Club Committee to lunch in February for the cheque presentation. Ruth was very warmly welcomed by all. Very grateful thanks to Sally for choosing The Compassionate Friends in her captaincy year; and a grateful thank you too to Chris Reynolds, Club President, seen here in the photo with Sally and Ruth and to all the other committee and club members who helped to raise such a great sum. This was, in fact, Ruth’s second visit to New Romney this year. Ruth gave a short talk about TCF in January to members of the New Romney Rotary Club via an introduction from Sally to Mark Singfield, Rotary Club President. Ruth felt warmly welcome at their Thursday evening meeting and greatly appreciated their kind invite to have supper with club members before her talk. The Rotarians subsequently donated £1,000 to TCF. Very many thanks to Mark and to club members for this very generous gift. Golf and Rotary clubs support our charity If you know of, or are members of, local clubs or societies that might consider donating to TCF we would love to hear from you. Contact jenny@tcf.org.uk
