Compassion Summer 2023

34 tcf.org.uk 7 peaks climbing challenge Tom Fennell is raising funds for four charities, including TCF, by climbing 7 peaks in 7 US states in May in memory of his brother, James who died in 2019. His original plan was… • 8 May Guadalupe Peak, Texas (2,667m) • 9 May Wheeler Peak, New Mexico (4,013m) • 10th May Mount Elbert, Colorado (4,401m) • 11 May King's Peak, Utah (4,123m) • 12 May Boundary Peak, Nevada (4,007m) • 13 May White Mountain Peak, California (4,344m) • 17 May Mauna Kea-Humu'ula, Hawaii (4,207m) At time of writing Tom had just posted this: “I quickly realised that it would be necessary to spread these out! I climbed Guadalupe Peak on Monday in just over four hours, rested and drove eleven hours to Mount Elbert in Colorado. This was one of the hardest things I’ve had to do. The snow was waist deep in some parts and it took just over twelve hours to reach the summit and return, around 18.5km! I’m still slightly battered and bruised from this so I’ve been relaxing and recovering… I’m flying to Hawaii tomorrow where the hiking will continue, the ankle has just about recovered”. Tom has raised over £2000 for all 4 charities and you can still support him justgiving.com/ crowdfunding/tom-fennell-1 Congratulations Tom and thank you. Hope you were able to rest those aching muscles in between your incredible climbs! FUNDRAISING ROUND-UP A warm thank you to all our fundraisers and donors - large and small.
