Parents in early bereavement In March, we welcomed 40 parents in the first months and years of their loss to a beautiful retreat venue, The Ammerdown Centre, about 12 miles from Bath. Here parents came together, with support from our volunteer team, to participate in a wide range of sharing sessions, workshops and other indoor and outdoor activities. In a safe haven for sharing our overflowing grief we express our feelings with others who understand. We release pain from our broken hearts in giant waves of emotion - stormy seas toss bursts of loss so difficult to express. Will writing help? We search for answers. Bereaved mother, Sally, attended the retreat and participated in the writing workshop. She told us “We had a very skilled facilitator who encouraged us all to express ourselves in words and to share our efforts with each other”. It was at the writing workshop that Sally wrote this beautiful piece.
