37 tcf.org.uk TCF NEWS | FUNDRAISING ROUND-UP London to Brighton Ultra walk raises over £8,500 On the last weekend in May, Carolyn Brice, CEO of TCF, and 3 friends set out to walk from London to Brighton- that's 100 km(!) - in 2 days in memory of her daughter Rosie in the 20th year since her loss and to raise funds for the charity. On her t-shirt Carolyn carried the names of so many other much-loved children and siblings. Here are a few words from Carolyn... "Sadly, at 88 km I had to stop walking on medical advice...the medics told me I risked severe long term back pain if I carried on. I cried. I was so upset not to be able to complete the full 100km. However, Becky, Claire and Jo carried on and walked the last 12 km over the Downs to finish early evening on Sunday 26 May at Brighton Racecourse. I was disappointed not to be able to do the whole 100 km but proud of my 88 km and proud of these awesome women who I am privileged to call friends. The organisers let me join them as we went over the finish line at 100 km…which was just a fantastic feeling. Thank you to everyone who has donated to our challenge...supporting bereaved parents and siblings. We are so grateful...you blew our target away. With gift aid we have raised over £8,500 for our very special charity that was such a lifeline to me with Rosie died. I now have the privilege of giving back by working for the charity and trying to continue to offer the peer support that I know can make so much difference to grieving parents and their families. Thank you so much to everyone who supported us...it meant a lot. Remembering Rosie and all our much-loved children, siblings and grandchildren... they were all carried in remembrance on our epic walk and every day ". Maxine & Craig Marney held a stunning ball in memory of their daughter Katie, assisted by Katie’s friend Jade. We are so very grateful for this incredible gift to support bereaved parents and their families. Katie Nicole Fundraising ball raises an incredible £15,000 Carolyn, Becky, Claire and Jo
