Winter 2020 - Compassion | www.tcf.org.uk 19 Because they are special commissions they’re not cheap, but they do a wonderful book of children's gravestones, from which you can get ideas for your own less expensive version. The Trust also initials pebbles. - Indeed this brings to mind wonderful pebbles decorated with their child’s name or initials by our TCF members. - We commissioned a stone with David’s initial ‘d’ on it from one of the Trust's newly qualified artists that also gives us great joy. It reminds me of Margaret Brealey's wise words regarding grief of the newly bereaved: ‘Grief is like a sharp edged stone, but hold it in your pocket and handle it enough, and the edges will start to smooth and with more and more handling will become smooth and manageable.’ This analogy certainly helped me and I hope it helps you too. I never cease to be amazed at the resilience of all of you as you do your best to come to terms with the most awful thing that can happen to parents, siblings and grandparents, and I can only wish you all the best as I salute your valour, for something which most people can never fully understand.
