COMPASSION, Winter 2024

45 tcf.org.uk Celebrating Jackson On 27th July, Kate Flett hosted JackoFest at the De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill-on-Sea in memory of her son, Jackson. For an incredible day full of live music and sunshine, Jackson’s community “celebrated his beautiful life the way Jackson would have wanted”. We received a total of £2238.50 from the money raised through JackoFest, all of which will support bereaved parents and families. Thank you to everyone who attended, organised and performed to make such a tremendous event possible. TCF NEWS | FUNDRAISING ROUND-UP Local group donation Our Grieving Hearts is a Compassionate Friends support group in Brentwood, Essex. They have been supporting bereaved parents since 2011 and became part of TCF in 2015. This year they have donated £5088 to TCF through their various fundraising activities over the years. The group meets first Monday evening of the month in Brentwood and the contact is Bridget Holley. Tragically, her fellow volunteer and friend Francesca died unexpectedly earlier this year. Our heartfelt condolences go to all Francesca’s family and friends. Bridget shares her memories of Francesca on page 39. Twelve-month Thames Walk Patsy Clover finished her year-long walk of the entire Thames in memory of her daughter, Evie. With support from her husband Bryan, she braved rain, mud, the August heatwave and a dodgy knee, to finish on Evie’s 20th birthday. Patsy raised £860 for TCF. Thank you to Patsy and all those who donated in Evie’s memory. 10 years of the Rainford 10K October marked 10 years of the Rainford 10K and the George Faulkner Memorial Cup. We thank Sue Faulkner and all the organisers and runners who have put together this community highlight each year for a decade now. This year, in memory of George, £695 was raised for TCF.
