Coping with friends family and social situations

One of a series of leaflets published by The Compassionate Friends The way we feel, and the way some people respond to us, is not unique to ourselves. Talking with other bereaved parents will offer assurance that we are not the only ones experiencing this. The Compassionate Friends is a gateway for a range of support, including opportunities to interact with other bereaved parents. What we offer includes: • Online Forum (available 24/7) • Facebook groups (also 24/7) • In-person local groups • Organised activities such as walks • Weekend and week events • Online support groups for specific types of loss, specific ages of our child • The ‘grief companion’ scheme – one-to-one support for up to a year for the newly bereaved. Learning about grief through TCF, or through other resources such as books or YouTube videos, can also help widen our own understanding of what is “normal” at this abnormal time in our lives. We will soon discover that there is no wrong or right way to grieve. TCF provides: • Around 50 leaflets on different aspects of grieving for a child: tcf.org.uk/leaflets • A library of books to borrow: tcf.org.uk/library Finding companionship in our grief
