My child has died. How do I talk about my grief?
12 Your own parents and older relatives If your own parents are still living, they will be experiencing many kinds of loss. Their grandchild has died. They are watching you, their child, in agony over your bereavement. They may feel guilty to still be alive when their grandchild, so much younger than they are, is not. Old problems in your relationship can rear up again. You and they may have very different ideas about how you can express and cope with your grief. The same can apply to uncles, aunts or grandparents of your own.
