My child has died. How do I talk about my grief?

9 Many bereaved parents are surprised by how other people respond to their grief – perhaps even family members or people they considered close friends. There can be many different reasons for this. Some people may be secretly afraid that such a terrible tragedy could happen in their own life. Some people may have outdated ideas about grief and how you should be handling your feelings. Whatever their reasons, it can be very hurtful if people you are close to disappear or ignore you. It is important to remember that this is their problem, not yours. On the other hand, hopefully some friends will be there for you, no matter what you are going through. These are the friends to appreciate and treasure. There will come a time when you will be able to reflect back their kindness towards you. Close friends and family
