Introducing TCF - For health and social care professionals
UK Helpline: 0 345 123 23 0 4 | tcf.org.uk Signposting bereaved parents to the help that TCF offers • It is usually best for the bereaved parent to contact us themselves. If they can do this, which is a big step, it usually means they are ready for our peer support • They can phone our national helpline on 0345 123 2304 or write to helpline@tcf.org.uk • On the initial contact, we will listen to them, giving them a chance to tell their story. We will provide them with information about what we offer, including a free pack containing supportive literature • We have no waiting list, but if this contact is within the first days or very early weeks of their loss, their grief will most likely be very raw. We may suggest they wait a little longer before accessing our in-person or online support groups. (We offer signposting for crisis support if this is needed) • Parents may be offered a grief companion if they are in their first or second year of bereavement and live in an area with no other TCF support. Other helpful organisations TCF primarily offers support to adults bereaved of their children aged from one month to adult sons or daughters. For support for other age groups, please see: For parents who have suffered a miscarriage The Miscarriage Association | miscarriageassociation.org.uk For parents bereaved of a baby under one month old or for stillbirth Sands | sands.org.uk For parents who have experienced the sudden loss of a baby The Lullaby Trust - lullabytrust.org.uk For bereaved children or teenagers Winston's Wish | winstonswish.org Child Bereavement UK | childbereavementuk.org
