SIBBS Newsletter, Autumn 2020

SIBBS Newsletter, Autumn 2020 | www.tcf.org.uk 4 Jessie honours sister Hannah with suicide prevention awareness drive Jessie Dutton has paid tribute to her sister Hannah whilst encouraging healthy conversations about suicide in an inspiring act of love which was picked up by local BBC radio. Jessie spread her #heardnothidden message by leaving 22 photos of Hannah featuring the hasthtag around Southampton, where Hannah attended university. Jessie’s “random little project” picked up unexpected momentum, and Jessie is now also booked in to do a BBC interview on suicide prevention in September, tying with Freshers’ week. “This was a way for me to remember [Hannah], show how proud of her I am and keep her light shining in the world. ** PLEASE have conversations about suicide, it will honestly save lives if we keep it #heardnothidden - and use the hashtag if you want to share! If it reaches just one person and creates one more opportunity for someone to feel it’s safe to speak out and share thoughts of suicide... then that’s light worth shining into a dark place” said Jessie. Huge admiration and respect to Jessie for sparking this crucial conversation.
