SIBBS Newsletter Spring 2023

SIBBS Newsletter, Spring 2023 | tcf.org.uk 11 The waves of grief The ocean is life Vast and mysterious The waves are your grief Unpredictable and ever changing Some days the ocean is calm and tranquil But beneath it the swell is building One day the waves come crashing down Relentless and powerful You can learn to ride the waves Some days you wipe out on every attempt Some days you ride them all the way into shore Some days all you can do is keep your head above the water Yet you ride as there isn’t much choice Some are on the beach enjoying the sunshine Some have dipped their toes in Some are playing in the shallows Some are in the middle of the ocean, struggling for air In the ocean you can feel utterly alone But if you look hard enough There are people all around Riding their own waves of grief Alone but together in the ocean of life Under the tumultuous surface There is the unknown The scary, the beautiful Both living together in harmony So why do you stay in the water When the waves are battering you down Because the ocean is beautiful and healing And someday you will be washed up on the beach Wondering whether you made the most of your time in the ocean Kaz Melvin 17/09/21
