SIBBS Newsletter, Winter 2022 | www.tcf.org.uk 5 ‘The Web of Grief’ is another great read. It’s brutally honest, full of emotion and tells the sad reality of how your life can turn upside down in the matter of minutes when you suddenly lose a sibling. I thoroughly enjoyed every single page, so much so that I finished it within a matter of days. I found myself laughing but also crying as I related immensely to all of the emotions and thoughts she struggled to face after the passing of her brother. It is truly one of the most honest books I’ve read in while, accurately exploring and explaining what it’s like to lose a sibling. Last year I finally got round to finishing this brilliant book by Elizabeth DeVita - Raeburn during my daily commute home. I was so blown away at how much I loved and related to each and every section! I felt unbelievably connected to her story and the pain she felt. I think losing my sister around the same age she was when she lost her brother meant we felt similar emotions about being at school and how adults treated us after the passing. Elizabeth’s story is truly unique but at the same time extremely relatable for those who have sadly lost a sibling, particularly those who have been left as an only child. I can’t recommend this book enough; at times it was heart-breaking to read but I also found it quite therapeutic in a way. I love finding books or articles I find relatable, reading others stories of sibling loss helps me to feel more connected and understood.
