SIBBS Newsletter, Winter 2021

SIBBS Newsletter, Winter 2021 | www.tcf.org.uk 5 On New Year’s Eve 2019 at 2.48pm my 35 year old younger sister and amazing mummy to my 2 year old nephew and 4 year old niece suddenly and very unexpectedly died from a blood clot to her lung the day after surgery to fix her broken ankle. From this time our world has never been the same. My sister did so very much in her life from gaining 3 degrees, travelling independently across the world, jumping out of a plane, teaching in a PRU, being an amazing mummy and being a major part in our family. For this reason she can never be forgotten, so... On the 10th October 2021 we held my Laura’s first charity Afternoon Tea Party in memory of my beautiful, funny, outspoken, loyal and amazing sister. The plan is for this to become an annual event for all those who loved ‘Our Laur/Griff’ to get together to talk, laugh and cry about our memories of her whilst enjoying afternoon tea with a glass of her favourite Malibu and Coke. This was a ticket event to raise money for Young Minds #HelloYellow . This charity raises awareness and provides support for teens with mental health issues - a topic very close to Laura’s heart. This was an amazing event and allowed us to raise nearly £2000 the feedback and love in the room for my strong baby sister was amazing. My sister, Our Laura forever in our thoughts and hearts, never ever forgotten. Laura’s First Afternoon Tea by Rachel Formiatti – Griff
