SIBBS Newsletter, Winter 2021 | www.tcf.org.uk 8 Remembering bereaved siblings at Christmas There is no going around it, special days like Christmas / Birthdays will never be the same again. For some people the countdown is worse than the day but for many the actual day is just truly horrible. Christmas, a time of love and giving, a time of being with our loved ones, is for so many people not a happy time. Perhaps it is the first Christmas, the tenth, the twentieth. However many have passed, it is never the same and our loved ones are so very missed, and so many tears fall on this Special Day. For me it is always the Christmas carols, the church services, the Christmas lights and seeing ‘complete’ living families that set me off. The Christmases we should have had together, the years that we were cut short, the family pictures we can now longer take. I remember the first Christmas without my brother, it was horrendous. And though in the six Christmases since little man passed on there has been lots of joy, every year we miss him and we will forever more. Every year he is talked of, and we have instilled different traditions to honour him. But there has been a ‘flatness’ to every Christmas since.
