SIBBS Newsletter, Winter 2021 | www.tcf.org.uk 9 Below are some ideas that may help you this Christmas, things that have been useful to me along this journey. Memory Bauble There are so many different options of these. You could continue to add to your collection every year in memory of your loved one. Memory tablecloth Every year lay a special table cloth out to be decorated by the guests. Ask everyone to write down their favourite memories, especially those that are about family members no longer with us. Homemade crackers Make homemade crackers and inside each, place a memory written down about your loved one. Share the memories together, with laughter and tears. You could keep these in a scrapbook or in another way to look at and add to each year. Give to Charity Every year choose a charity to give to in your loved one’s name. Alternatively you could look at buying gifts through an angel tree. Christmas cards using their drawings You could use some of sibling’s drawings post-humously to design Christmas cards. Pack a shoebox for charity Give yourself the freedom to break away from socialising! Perhaps none of these things are right for you, perhaps you just can’t summon the strength to do any of these things and perhaps it is just about ‘getting through it’. There is no right or wrong way. My heart goes out to anyone reading this who is grieving. There simply is no way around it. You’ve got to go through it.
