TCF News Autumn 2022
Autumn 2022 - TCF Newsletter | www.tcf.org.uk 8 The beautiful, tranquil venue of Charney Manor in Oxfordshire hosted the July weekend for parents bereaved of an only child or all their children. It was great to be back after the hiatus caused by the pandemic. Some of the parents attending the retreat shared their thoughts with us. Viv writes: A weekend away with parents who are bereaved of their only child or all their children doesn’t sound much fun. And it wasn’t much fun, but there were moments of real laughter, nuggets of hope, shared stories, special conversations with incredible mums and dads who are standing up every day to honour, remember and continue to parent their lost child, or in my case both of my boys. And yes, there were tears too, lots of tears but there were also lots of hugs, understanding touching of hands, a pat on the shoulder and a tissue passed with love. Being given permission and space to talk about and share our children and our grief with others is so important. So thank you so much, TCF, for the hard work of all the leaders and volunteers, who, despite their own indescribable grief, made the weekend so uniquely special and so incredibly supportive for us all. My heart is grateful. Charney Manor Candlelighting at Charney Manor
