Spring 2022 - TCF Newsletter | www.tcf.org.uk 8 Fundraising Round Up A warm thank you to all our fundraisers and donors - large and small Memorial match for Danny Terry A warm and grateful thank you to Rachel and Mark Terry and their friends and family for choosing TCF as the beneficiary of the memorial ice-hockey match in memory of their son, Danny Terry. They raised an incredible £7000 for our charity. Here Rachel and Mary write about Danny and the hockey match in his honour. Danny was born on the 1 March 1995 at All Saints Hospital, Chatham in Kent. Danny’s love for ice hockey began when he was 7 years old. He played exclusively at the Planet Ice, Gillingham ice rink. Danny joined in the junior teams and worked his way up to playing with two senior teams - the Invicta Mustangs and Invicta Dynamos. He was also a regular at national events and was given the opportunity to play in the Czech Republic and Canada which was organised by his junior coach Tim Scofield accompanied by his son Charlie. Danny left school at 16 and spent a couple of years working at the ice rink, before joining the family business in 2014. Although Danny did not find college easy, in 2018 he became a fully qualified plumber. He became an integral part of the team and became Dan ‘the boiler king’. In late 2019 Danny met and fell in love with Hollie, they got their first house together in late 2020 and life started to fall into place. Sadly, on 10 February 2021 we lost our Danny in a road traffic accident on the A27. One of the first people from the hockey community to offer his support was Ali Roger, Danny’s coach and guide for over 10 years. Ali had a huge impact on making Danny the outstanding young man that he became. Ali, along with Dan Fudger, very early on started to put plans together for a memorial ice hockey game to honour Danny and raise money in his name for our chosen charities. Also, Danny’s good friend Joseph Hales carried out a virtual 24 hour Le Mans race in which he raised a good sum of money which has also gone to charities in Danny’s memory. 
