TCF News, Winter 2020
Winter 2020 - TCF Newsletter | www.tcf.org.uk 9 It is with sadness that we pay this tribute to Philip – former Contact, Regional Co-ordinator and Chairman of The Compassionate Friends. Following the death of their 6 month old son, Christopher, in March 1961, he and his wife Frances later became support contacts in the Leeds area, running a group and supporting many more recently bereaved parents. They regularly attended the annual residential weekends and Frances will be remembered for running relaxation sessions – bring your own pillow! Philip often led the Sunday service and wrote the history of TCF in 1994 to mark the 25th Anniversary of our organisation. He also helped Dany Sherlock to produce her book of poems – The Reluctant Survivor – which is still available to purchase via the TCF website SHOP. Thanks to you both for all that you have given to so many people. After many years in Leeds, they moved to Pately Bridge, North Yorkshire, when Philip retired. His funeral service was held in St. Cuthbert’s Church there on 5 October with a moving Eulogy given by his brother. We send our love to Frances and their family and hope that they have many happy memories of their time together to bring comfort in the days and years ahead.
