Scottish Gathering Perth - 3/4/5th May 2019 Update (Feb 2019)

Dear Friends
This is to let you know that all available rooms in the venue have now been booked. However the committee can still offer day visitor places on the Saturday and Sunday including evening dinner for both the Friday and Saturday evenings. There are a number of B&B guest houses nearby only a short drive or taxi to the venue and we have pre-booked a number of rooms at selected guest houses for your convenience if you wish this option. So hopefully this will still provide the opportunity for those who wish to come and avoid disappointment - please contact Maureen on 01738 631406 for further information and how to book.

ONLINE BOOKING HAS NOW CLOSED.

Please contact Maureen at 01738 631406 or email maureen.mcaninch@blueyonder.co.uk for availability and options to book.

Dear Friends,

Please accept this warm invitation to join us at our supportive Scottish Gathering in the Murrayshall Country House Hotel in Perth and be with others who know the agony and anguish of losing a much-loved child, grandchild or sibling. For some of you your loss may have happened recently, for others perhaps some time ago, but here with us you can share freely your precious and special memories and speak about your loved ones with others who truly care and understand. The venue for the 2019 Gathering is set in the most beautiful, tranquil and peaceful surroundings in the heart of Perthshire. For more information regarding the venue go to www.murrayshall.co.uk

Just a few comments from those who attended the Scottish Gathering in 2018

  • We really appreciate from everyone all the friendship, support and for us hope, that we will find our path on this journey like no other.
  • The Gathering is a time for me to spend with my child, not to be judged and a place to relax and laugh without guilt.
  • Was very apprehensive about coming and being on my own. Was instantly made to feel welcome and at home.
  • For a first time – I was exceptionally anxious, but I am leaving with so much love and support to carry on – thank you.

Most of the faces of the organisers are familiar to those who have attended previous Gatherings and we look forward to renewing friendships and hope to welcome those who are perhaps only beginning this painful journey.

The cost for the weekend (full board from Friday late afternoon until Sunday after lunch) is £220.00 per person.

There are other residential and non-residential options on the drop down menus plus an opportunity to book for Thursday night and Sunday night bed and breakfast for an additional £65.00 per night.

We look forward to welcoming you in May and would encourage you to book early.

EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES

Please don’t feel that it is necessary to attend all the events on the programme, only participate in as much or as little as you wish and feel comfortable with. However, if you would like to, you can take part in a variety of discussion groups; craft workshops and a sharing session to which you can bring a piece of music or a poem that has a special meaning for you. There will also be a remembrance and candle lighting service and a special room where photos and memories of your precious children, grandchildren and siblings can be displayed.

In mid-April we will write to you with the programme of the weekend and a reminder of the things you may wish to bring along with you.

Are you feeling unsure?

If you would like to speak to someone before booking for the weekend, or have any questions about the Gathering please feel free to call Maureen on 01738 631406 or mobile 07952 405329 or email at maureen.mcaninch@blueyonder.co.uk

To ensure a place at the Gathering, please could you book as soon as possible and before the 5th April 2019.

Cancellations

Should you need to cancel your booking please do so by 19th April 2019 and we will refund your payment minus a £25 admin fee. After that date, we are sorry, but we are unable to offer any refunds.

Sorry no dogs can be accepted with the exception of guide dogs.

Please note that our weekend retreats are run by bereaved parent volunteers. Our volunteers are not professionals and so what we offer is a uniquely warm, comforting and supportive two days organised and facilitated by parents who have also experienced the loss of a child and have found understanding and hope themselves through The Compassionate Friends.
