How You Can Support The Compassionate Friends 50th Anniversary Gathering

TCF's 50^th anniversary supportive Gathering from 1-3 November at Horwood Estate is a much bigger event than our usual national gathering. It is being held at a larger, high quality hotel with an expanded programme, more peer workshops and discussions, outside speakers, commemorative elements and a 'sit down' dinner on the Saturday evening. TCF wants to commemorate this milestone in the history of the charity with a larger group of attendees from within and outside of the UK.

However, this also entails a large liability to the charity if we fail to fill all the places. In addition, we feel strongly that the planning, running and administration of the event should not distract from us continuing to support bereaved parents, siblings and grandparents in our usual way through the national helpline, support groups, supportive retreats, Facebook groups, online forum, leaflets and publications, the library, specialist support and so on.

So we are asking bereaved parents who value the work of The Compassionate Friends to consider supporting the weekend to help us make it worthy of our golden anniversary. Of course, most activities will be carried out by volunteers, but there will be many additional costs for the charity at the weekend, so contributions are most welcome from individuals or corporate sponsors. (Do please ask your employer if they would like to be a sponsor. We have a specific document you can give to a corporate sponsor to explain what we need. Please ask for it from the National Office).

Single sponsorship opportunities include

£660 sponsors the delegate bags
£220 sponsors the wallet for attendee papers
£500 sponsors the writing, designing and printing of the souvenir programme
£220 sponsors the delegate badges
£450 sponsors a 50^th Anniversary gift item for all attendees
£220 sponsors pens for all at the weekend

 

You could also sponsor a syndicate room in memory of and to honour your child – and have your son or daughter’s name as the room name if you wished. Each room can be sponsored for £200.

Other amounts will also help us too:

£25 will help fund the materials for the craft activities at the weekend.

£50 will help fund the travel expenses for one of the inspiring external speakers

£60 will contribute to buying items for sale in our Gathering shop

£70 will fund 2 indoor banners for 2 syndicate rooms

£75 will help fund the candles, taper, jars for the memorial candle lighting

£100 will help fund the tea and coffee breaks during the weekend

£250 will help fund the cost of a bereaved parent to come to the Gathering who otherwise would unable to afford to attend

£260 will sponsor one large banner flag outside the entrance to the Hotel

Whatever you think you may be able to afford, rest assured that you will help us save money on the 50^th Anniversary Gathering, and so enable us to use vital funds to continue our unique peer support for bereaved parents, grandparents and siblings.
