This fertility loss service is open to anyone who has experienced infertility, failed fertility treatment, miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, premature menopause, stillbirth, terminations for medical reasons or otherwise, neonatal death, or to anyone who has experienced unwanted childlessness – from whatever cause, including from the absence of a suitable partner.

You are welcome to attend, either on your own or in the company of a partner, or of a close friend or relative.

This non-denominational service is open to people of all faiths and none. It was first developed by the psychotherapist Meredith Wheeler who has had many years’ experience in this field. The service consists of music, readings and participatory ritual. Attendees will be invited to light a candle for the missing child, or children, in their life.

The service lasts for about an hour. The service hopes to provide an opportunity for painful, and often unacknowledged, experiences of loss to be mourned in the company of sympathetic people with similar experiences of their own. The intention is to help to provide some liberation from the weight of unexpressed feeling, and to offer the possibility of peace and resolution.
