London Walk - From West to East
21 August 2021, 11.00 – 16.00
Meeting at Paddington Station
From West to East
The fourth in our 2021 series of London walks will take place on Saturday 21st August and will have a nod to the Olympic games in Japan.
The walk will begin at Paddington Station and end at High Street Kensington Station. We will walk around Paddington canal basin, to Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, past the grand houses of Notting Hill and Holland Park, and then into Holland Park itself.
We may not be able to travel to Tokyo, but we will visit the beautiful Kyoto Japanese Garden in Holland Park, described as a ‘tranquil oasis of calm’.
We will meet near the war memorial on platform 1 of Paddington railway station at 10.45am for a prompt 11.00am departure.
At lunch there will be the option of cafes or places to enjoy a picnic if you prefer.
We should finish at about 4.00pm at High Street Kensington (near the tube station) where there will be the option of a well-deserved drink or from where you can start your onward journey home. There may even still be time for a spot of shopping or (window shopping) at the iconic Harrods.
There is a lot to see and we will be covering a distance of approximately 5 miles at a steady pace. This walk is not suitable for those who require walking aids or who might find the pace too demanding.
The walks are free and are designed to offer you an opportunity to socialise and chat to other bereaved parents and siblings as well as to offer some exercise to support our mental and physical wellbeing. However, you can if you wish give a voluntary donation at the time you book or at www.tcf.org.uk/donate.
