Online Support Group for Bereaved Parents - Northern Ireland

25 November 2021, 19.00

Online Via Zoom

We extend a warm invitation to you to join us at an online support group with other bereaved parents in a safe and compassionate environment. This virtual support group is a unique opportunity to meet and share, and find understanding and support, with other bereaved parents in Northern Ireland who have experienced the loss of a son or daughter of any age and from any cause.

We hope the group will also offer the opportunity to let you know about other support available within The Compassionate Friends as a whole - particularly as we all need as much support as possible during this difficult time.

This event will be run as a facilitated online group using Zoom. We will send you details of how to set up Zoom easily on your computer or tablet. Due to the nature of online groups we will be limiting the number of attendees and booking is via our website only. We will confirm your attendance and send you the Zoom link to join by email closer to the date of the meeting.

If this event is fully booked we are hoping to run further groups at a later date to give more parents the opportunity to attend.

Once you book you will receive more details closer to the meeting date. Just a reminder to check your spam or junk email folders if you haven’t received the link for the online meeting by the day of the meeting. Please contact info@tcf.org.uk if you have any questions or queries.

Please note that these online events are run by bereaved parent volunteers. Our volunteers are not professionals and so what we offer is a uniquely warm, comforting and supportive online group organised and facilitated by parents who have also experienced the loss of a child and have found understanding and hope themselves through The Compassionate Friends.

If you are newly bereaved:
Please note, our online support group meetings may not be the most appropriate form of support for very newly bereaved parents. We know how vulnerable we can be in the early weeks and months of our grief and how raw the pain and heartache can feel.

In an online support environment, we will of course do all we can to express our empathy to newly bereaved parents verbally but we won’t be able to offer the very important physical presence and contact that in person groups can offer especially when parents become very upset. We know too that in the early weeks and months of our loss, that one to one support with one of our local bereaved parent supporters may be more appropriate to the needs of newly bereaved parents.

If you are in the early weeks/months of your loss and would like to attend the group, it would help to know when you were bereaved and whether you are already receiving support via The Compassionate Friends. We may then make contact if we need to explore with you whether our online group support is the most appropriate way to support you at this stage in your loss.

Feedback from a previous group:

'As we know we wish no one was in the position we are in, to lose a child and to need support on the loss of a child. I am thankful that TCF provide this.‘
