ONLINE via Zoom

Sangeeta is mother to Saagar, a gorgeous young man who had the world at his feet. Sadly, he was struck by a severe mental illness seven years ago and died as a result. As a tribute to Saagar’s short and beautiful life, she connects with other parents, sharing her insights in the belief that through these compassionate connections we can ease each other’s pain and empower each other to appreciate the world of possibilities still available to us.
Just as a multitude of drops make up an ocean, a multitude of moments make up Time. If we are able to be at ease in each moment, the quality of our time can be peaceful. But how do we do that? How do we develop the ability to perceive every second as a doorway to peace and joy? Given there is no escape from the here and now, in this session Sangeeta will explore how we can make friends with it.
In this on-line talk entitled Making Friends With Now Sangeeta hopes to share the value of connecting with each given moment as a fresh opportunity for peace. This time she will help us think about the concepts of ‘mind’ and ‘time’ differently and share simple skills to negotiate difficult inner states.
ABOUT OUR SPEAKER
Dr Sangeeta Mahajan is a Mental Health activist and educator and a Trustee of both a national charity for prevention of young suicide, PAPYRUS and the Support After Suicide Partnership . She dreams of a world where everyone lives with hope. Aside from individually supporting parents and young people, she has been a keynote speaker at various national conferences in the UK and in India. She also works as a Consultant Anaesthetist at a major teaching hospital in London.
Sangeeta has also spoken at retreats and weekend events run by The Compassionate Friends and has previously spoken on this forum about ‘finding meaning’ and ‘self-compassion’. Her words are always honest, moving, inspiring, helpful and hopeful for anyone who has suffered deep loss. We are truly delighted that she has agreed to share her insights with us once again.
This event is free to attend online but we ask you, if you can, to help us to fund our services for bereaved parents and families through a voluntary donation when registering to attend. Your donation will go towards our bursary fund to help bereaved parents and siblings with limited finances to attend one of our in person retreat weekends or bereavement support days.
Once you book to attend, nearer the time you will receive a link to access the event on Zoom.
