5 March 2022, 09.00 – 17.00
GTG Glasgow, Glasgow
This supportive day is especially for parents who have been bereaved by suicide or substance use. This will be a unique opportunity to be together in a safe place to hear from and share with others who have experienced the loss of a son or daughter in these particular ways.
For those of us who go through drug and alcohol related bereavement or suicide, there are added complications. We may face social stigma and isolation. Our minds may regularly go over and over what we could have done to prevent this tragedy. We may feel a strong sense of guilt. Our child may have had the added challenge of living with a mental health condition, such as depression or anxiety.
Come and be with others who understand the pain of grief for a son or daughter, and immerse yourself in the comfort and warmth of a dedicated team of bereaved parent volunteers. This support day will be a mixture of discussions and activities which you are free to participate in as much or as little as you want.
Some feedback from previous supportive days:
"I am finding life very difficult, but with the help and support from TCF... I am finding this a lifeline at the moment...The support I felt that day was nothing short of amazing".
"I would recommend giving a day away with TCF a try, it’s last place you want to be, right? Yes and no, it’s the best place to be if you’re a bereaved parent".
The cost for the day will be £25 per person - this includes all refreshments, a light lunch and activities.
Not sure?
If you are unsure about any aspect of the day please contact Sharryn at sharryn@tcf.org.uk for reassurance and for any questions about the event.
Please note that our supportive days and retreats are run by bereaved parent volunteers. Our volunteers are not professionals and so what we offer is a uniquely warm, comforting and supportive day organised and facilitated by parents who have also experienced the loss of a child and have found understanding and hope themselves through The Compassionate Friends.
Support our work
