Meeting at Taunton Station

Please join bereaved mum, Yvonne who is leading her first TCF walk from the centre of Taunton along the River Tone and into the countryside before returning to Taunton Station.

See what she has written below:

Hello, I am Yvonne and I would like to invite bereaved parents, grandparents and adult siblings in the wider area to join me on my first walk for TCF.

Please join us for a lovely walk from the centre of Taunton following the River Tone upstream into the countryside.

We will meet at 11.15 am at Taunton Station. Please note that we will be meeting at the main station entrance - which is on the south side of the station.

The 6-mile level walk goes through the town to the river Tone. We will then follow the river, past Somerset County Cricket club ground and the historic Norman castle which now houses the Museum of Somerset. We will continue on to French Weir Park where we can have an early lunch at the Weir Cafe. If you prefer you can bring your own packed lunch and sit by the river.

Our walk continues through fields and onto farmland, through community woodland and includes a lovely riverside walk. We can take another break here and stop for an additional snack while enjoying the views. You may wish to bring some extra snacks with you.

We will then head back to the town, following the river, and return to Taunton station at approximately 4.30 pm.

At the end of the walk those who wish can join us in a pleasant cafe for a well deserved cup of tea and delicious cake.

Please note that although this is a level walk we shall be walking at a steady pace and some of the terrain is uneven, stony and can be muddy. Please note that this walk is not suitable for those who require walking aids or who might find the pace too demanding.

Please be outside the station ready to leave promptly. The closest pay-parking to our meeting place is in the new multi-storey car park on the south of the station. Don't forget to wear suitable footwear.

The walks are free and are designed to offer you an opportunity to to meet with and chat to other bereaved parents and siblings as well as to offer some exercise to support our mental and physical wellbeing. However, you can if you wish give a voluntary donation at the time you book or at www.tcf.org.uk/donate.

DISCLAIMER: Please note that the details of this walk may be subject to change
