Meet at Tourist Information Office, Keswick

Bereaved mum, Sheila, will be leading her second TCF walk in the Lake District . The walk is for any bereaved parents, siblings (18 years+) and grandparents who can get to the meeting place in Keswick. You can be living close by or visiting the area - all are warmly welcome.

Tracy wrote to us after her first walk in May with Sheila...

"I just wanted to thank Sheila for making me feel so welcome and leading us on such a beautiful walk around Buttermere. I can understand how healing it is being in such peace and beauty and it helped me very much being amongst people who understand".

Sheila wanted to tell you something about this next walk she has planned for you...

Hi! I am Sheila and am looking forward to leading this walk from Keswick and around part of Derwentwater with my faithful spaniel cross, Rosie. We invite bereaved parents, grandparents and adult siblings to join us, and well-behaved dogs are also welcome. It will be an opportunity to chat to others while benefitting from some exercise and fresh air in beautiful surroundings.

The pretty market town of Keswick is situated near the shores of Derwentwater in the Lake District. From the Moot Hall in the centre of town we will walk through the beautiful Hope Park then into Crow Park where we will pick up the lakeshore path and walk via the stunning Friar’s Crag viewpoint to Calfclose Bay. After stopping here for a “brew with a view” we will leave the lakeshore and take a slightly different route back to Keswick where we can stop for some lunch in one of the many cafes or pubs.

It’s approximately 5 miles in total and at a steady pace with a short break it should take around 3 hours to complete the walk. The route is mostly flat with good footpaths and board walks but there are a couple of shingle bays to cross where it is uneven underfoot. Please remember it is a rural walk so you should have a reasonable level of fitness, wear sturdy footwear and bring waterproofs.

We will meet from 9:45 outside the Tourist Information office at the Moot Hall (CA12 5JR) in the market square and will start walking at 10:00. There are several car parks. The closest to the market square is Keswick Central (CA12 5DN) and the Lakeside carpark is a ten minute walk away (CA12 5BX). Both are pay and display and I would suggest bringing cash in case the card facility is not working.

Please note there are public toilets at the Lakeside car park which we will pass approximately half an hour into the walk and I would suggest bringing a drink and snack for a short break mid-way and we can then have some lunch at the end of the walk in Keswick.

We look forward to you joining us.

Please note that details of this walk are subject to change.

Please note that if you need to cancel after you have booked – we will rely on you to let us know beforehand so that our walk leaders/facilitators don't expect or wait for you. Please email info@tcf.org.uk to let us know. Thank you.
