Henley on Thames
Please join bereaved parents Sue and Paul for a beautiful walk in the Thames Valley starting and finishing at Henley on Thames and a pub lunch midway.
The walk is about 4 miles in total. Mainly on footpaths. With a stop half way for lunch.
Basic fitness required. There is a small gradual incline near the beginning.
Footwear: Trainers or similar should be fine.
Further details
We will meet at the main entrance to Henley railway station at 11 am.
Parking: If coming by car, there is a free car park about 15 mins walk away at the bottom of Mill Lane by the river. Post code: RG9 4HD. You can walk along the river path towards the town to get to the station.
Or there is a car park at the station which is £4 for
up to 6 hours.
(The car parks in Henley town centre all seem to have a
maximum stay of 3 hours which won't be enough time).
We will start walking at 11.15 am.
We cross the river Thames on Henley bridge then we follow a footpath gently uphill through woodland and fields to a plateau with a beautiful view down over the Thames valley.
We will stop at a pub (The Flower Pot) in the village of Aston for lunch. It has a large garden so we can hopefully sit outside. They have a large varied menu and may also offer a BBQ. We aim to be at the pub about 12.30-2pm. Then we will return to Henley along the Thames path. We aim to be back at Henley for about 3.30pm-ish. We can find somewhere in Henley to have tea/coffee/drink (optional) if people want to stay a bit longer.
Bereaved parents, grandparents and siblings all welcome.
Well behaved dogs are also welcome.
If you could book a place on the walk here that would be helpful.
