Dr Laura Towers is a Research Fellow at the University of Sheffield, who recently completed a 4 year research project about sibling bereavement over the life course. During this time, Laura spoke with men and women of varying ages to learn more about their experiences of sibling grief and loss.
In collaboration with Laura, The Compassionate Friends will be co-hosting a ‘Bereaved Sibling Day’ on Saturday 17 September 2022 at the University of Sheffield Students’ Union. The event will offer attendees a space to discuss their feelings and experiences themed around some of the ideas that were mentioned most frequently in Laura’s research. For example, considering how family dynamics and relationships have changed over time, or managing questions about family and siblings during social situations.
Please be assured that absolutely nothing that is said on the day is to be used for research purposes; the entire aim of the day is to offer a safe and confidential space to bereaved brothers and sisters with the opportunity to share (or not) what is on their mind.
