Formby Walk
10 September 2022, 10.30 – 14.00
Bereaved mum, Marcia, will be leading a Compassionate Friends walk for bereaved parents, siblings (18 years+) at the beginning of September. The walk will be approximately 5 miles in length. If you haven’t walked with us before, please don’t feel daunted or apprehensive about joining on your own. You will very quickly find yourself in a friendly, supportive community of other bereaved parents and siblings. Marcia tells you more below...
My name is Marcia and I’m a bereaved mother living in Formby. I would like to invite you to join me on a walk along my beautiful coastline which is situated between Liverpool and Southport.
We have a long sandy beach backed by dunes and pinewoods and the walk would take in these three different types of terrain. It is generally flat with a few ups and downs in the dunes. It is mostly on good well trodden paths, but a few can be a bit rough and overgrown. I have planned to start off in the dunes; go on to the beach for a couple of miles and finish up in the woodland. However, the route can be altered depending on weather and conditions. Basic fitness required. Trainers or walking shoes are best for these conditions and please bring a packed lunch as there is nowhere to eat en-route.
Meeting Place We will be meeting near Formby beach (exact details of our meeting place will be emailed to you nearer the time but note that carparking is available there)
After the walk, we could drive the mile or so to Formby Village where there is free parking and plenty of opportunities for refreshments.
I look forward to welcoming other bereaved parents, grandparents and adult siblings and walking with them in this lovely area.
