Nowton Park, Bury St Edmunds
A gentle walk, led by bereaved parents, Teresa and Shirley, is planned for Saturday 1 October at Nowton Park in Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk. This is a supportive group walk and all bereaved parents will be made very welcome. If you haven’t walked with us before, please don’t feel daunted or apprehensive about joining on your own. You will very quickly find yourself in a friendly, supportive community of other bereaved parents and siblings.
With almost 200 acres of landscaped Suffolk countryside there is something for everyone at Nowton Park. The lime avenue is one of the finest examples in the UK and was planted around 1880. In spring over 100,000 daffodils bloom beneath the trees. The unique east and west arboretums are home to trees from around the world. These include eucalyptus from Australia, paperbark maple from China and Kentucky coffee trees from North America. The wildflower meadow was sown in 1990. The introduction of wildflowers, like birdsfoot trefoil has boosted the numbers of butterflies recorded in the park.
There is a picnic area and a café. Public toilets are available 8am – 6pm, including an accessible toilet. Please note: the park is free to enter but you will have to pay for parking if you need it.
We will meet outside the café at the right-hand side of the car park at 9.45am for a 10am start.
Our walk will be for approximately 2 miles in total at a steady pace and is likely to take around an hour. Please note that the walk will take us through short sections of wooded area.
After the walk, feel free to join us for a drink and a chat at the café before we head home or you can bring a picnic if you prefer.
Please do not hesitate to contact Shirley or Teresa if you would like more information. You will find details for Nowton Park here.

These walks are free and are designed to offer you an opportunity to socialise and chat to other bereaved parents, as well as to offer some exercise to support our mental and physical wellbeing. However, you can if you wish give a voluntary donation at the time you book or at www.tcf.org.uk/donate.
Please note that if you need to cancel after you have booked – we will rely on you to let us know beforehand so that our walk leaders/facilitators don't expect or wait for you. Please email info@tcf.org.uk to let us know. Thank you.
