Real London - Islington and Canonbury
10 September 2022, 11.00
On this new and largely urban walk, you will explore with bereaved dad and walk leader Terry an interesting area, in which Londoners live & work, away from the tourist trail. You will discover elegant Georgian houses, quaint shops, a canal and the New River Path, a ribbon of nature which winds through North London. The New River dates back to the early 1600s so it’s not new and it’s not a river ! You’ll find out a lot more on the walk.
There will be a stop for lunch at Highbury Corner where there are many options and seating for those preferring to bring a picnic.
We will meet at St. Pancras Station on the upper level near the very large statue of a couple embracing - you can’t miss it - at 11 o’clock.
The route is approximately 5 miles and will finish at Finsbury Park Station with a tube journey time of 5 minutes back to Kings Cross/St. Pancras. It also connects to the Piccadilly Line & National Rail/Thameslink.
Please note this reasonably paced walk is not suitable for any individuals who cannot walk unaided.
There will be the option of refreshment at a pub after the walk.
The walk should finish by 3.30/4.00 pm.
If you haven’t walked with us before, please don’t feel daunted or apprehensive about joining on your own. You will very quickly find yourself in a friendly, supportive community of other bereaved parents and siblings.
