Loch Leven Nature Reserve, Perth and Kinross

Our First Walk in Scotland

“Connecting with nature” as we walk together on part of the Loch Leven National Heritage trail and at RSPB nature reserve and wetland walk

5th November 2022 10.00am – 1.30pm

Here's what Marjory writes.

Hello. I am inviting you to join me on the lovely Loch Leven Heritage walk. Loch Leven has many fascinating areas to explore as and see; from the small Islands to the little loch side beached areas and woodlands that border some of the loch. The whole heritage walk is 13 miles all around the loch however, we will walk in all around 5 miles during our time together. This will give us the opportunity to walk and talk whilst admiring and absorbing this beautiful and interesting area. There is much to see and explore.

We will set out on our walk along the loch side passing a couple of small beached areas, Findatie Meadow and through the woods to a hide. This part of the walk is just over 2 ½ km. We can take a short break at this point and pop into the hide to hopefully see swans, ducks and some of the 28,000 pink footed geese that have migrated to Loch Leven. Then we will return to the café at the visitors’ centre for refreshments.

We will then start walking to the wetlands for about a mile with the opportunity to go into 3 hides. There are no binoculars in the hides but bringing your own could be a really good idea if getting a better view of the wetland area is of interest.

We should return to the visitor’s centre for around 1.30pm where there will be an option to walk further or stop and chat over a cuppa .

This walk is very accessible for all levels of fitness with the paths being are very well maintained and easy to walk; for the most part they are level.

Make sure you have clothing for all weather conditions.

Please contact me via info@tcf.org.uk if you would like to have a chat before our time together.

After you have booked please look out for an email from info@tcf.org.uk with further details in the week before the walk.

If you haven’t walked with us before, please don’t feel daunted or apprehensive about joining on your own. You will very quickly find yourself in a friendly, supportive community of other bereaved parents and siblings.
