21 December 2022, 10.30 – 12.30

Greenhead Park, Huddersfield

Bereaved parents Julie, Lynne and Leanne warmly invite you all to join their first official walk and planning meeting which is taking place on Wednesday 21st December 2022, 10.30 am at Greenhead Park in Huddersfield. If you haven’t joined a TCF walk before, please don’t feel daunted or apprehensive about joining on your own. You will very quickly find yourself in a friendly, supportive community of other bereaved parents, siblings and grandparents. Julie, Lynne and Leanne introduce themselves below…

Hello All

We are three bereaved parents who met through attending our local TCF Support Group for parents in Brighouse. We would like to offer the opportunity for bereaved parents, adult bereaved siblings and grandparents to have regular opportunities to come together to walk and talk through our shared experience of losing someone close. Following the initial meet-up and walk in December, we hope to meet once a month, in different locations or areas.

Please note that car parking, in the immediate vicinity, can be limited. However, as the nearby Greenhead College will have closed for the Christmas Holiday period, parking will hopefully not be problem. After an initial meet-up and discussion about future walks, we will then start our walk around the park.

The park is mainly flat and has tarmac paths. We plan to walk several circuits of the park at a gentle pace. Feel free to do as many or as few circuits with us as you wish - the park is not in an isolated position and so people will be able to make their way, from any point within it, back to where they parked their car or where they are able to access public transport services for the journey home. There are public toilets located within the park - at the top end adjacent to the tennis courts and also within the Conservatory Cafe. There is a limited space pay and display car park to the rear of the Conservatory Cafe. As the weather can be unpredictable at this time of year, please bring suitable footwear and waterproofs. Dogs are welcome and must be kept on a lead initially but can be let off at the owner’s discretion once the walk is underway.

Please don’t feel apprehensive about joining on your own as we hope you will find us warm, friendly and welcoming. We look forward to seeing you on the 21st December or at a future walk.

With compassion, Julie, Lynne and Leanne.

For further details about where to meet, to confirm your interest in attending or to ask anything else, please email info@tcf.org.uk and Lynne will get back to you.
