28 January 2023, 10.30

Nowton Park, Bury St Edmunds

Bereaved parents and volunteer walk facilitators, Teresa and Shirley are planning their next walk at Nowton Park in Bury St Edmunds for Saturday 28th January 2023. Meet at 10.15 am for a 10.30 am start.

Shirley and Teresa write:

We are planning to go ahead whatever the weather (unless it’s truly awful), so please come well prepared for all conditions. As this is a `winter’ walk, we have been advised to remind you that you take part in the walk at your own risk. Whilst the walk will be at a steady pace and fairly short at approximately 2 miles (for around an hour), please note that our route will take us through short sections of wooded area. The ground may be wet, muddy and slippery underfoot.

As before, this is a supportive group walk and all bereaved parents will be made to feel very welcome. These walks are free and are designed to offer you an opportunity to socialise and chat to other bereaved parents and adult bereaved siblings, as well as to offer some exercise to support our mental and physical wellbeing. If you haven’t yet walked with us, please don’t feel daunted or apprehensive about joining. You will very quickly find yourself in a friendly, supportive community of other bereaved parents.

Please note that if you bring along a friend or relative with you for initial support, they will be unable to join us for the walk itself unless they are also a bereaved parent or adult bereaved sibling.

There are public toilets available by the café from 8am – 6pm, including an accessible toilet. The park is free to enter but you will have to pay for parking if you need it.

For more details and to register, please click on the, 'book for this event' link. Once you register, Teresa and Shirley will be in contact with you by email prior to the walk to give you more information.

If you do book and then find that you are unable to join the walk, we would really appreciate it if you could let us know at shirley@tcf.org.uk as soon as possible and by Friday 27th January at the latest. This is so we know not to expect or to wait for you. We will send out a reminder in the week before the 28th January.

We are so pleased that parents and siblings are finding the walks helpful and look forward to meeting you again if you have been before. If this will be your first time joining us, we hope that you will feel comfortable and very welcomed by us all.
