25 February 2023, 11.00 – 15.30
Bereaved parent , Yvonne, is organising this TCF winter walk in South West England, taking place in Taunton and visiting Vivary Park and Cotlake Hill on Saturday, 25th February 2023 at 11 am.
Yvonne writes:
We will meet outside the main entrance to Taunton Train Station at 11 am.
The walk is 6 miles but for those wanting a shorter walk, there will be the opportunity to meet the rest of the group in Taunton town centre, near the old bus station which will take 2 miles off the walk.
We shall follow the River Tone past the new Coal Orchard riverside development by the Brewhouse Theatre, past Taunton Castle, walk up The Crescent and into Vivary Park. We shall have an early lunch here - please bring your own lunch. Alternatively, light vegetarian snacks, lovely cakes and hot drinks can be purchased from The Coffee Station in Vivary Park where there are benches and shelters if it is wet.
We shall then walk through farmland to Trull and up Cotlake Hill. Here, there are far reaching views to The Quantocks, The Blackdowns and The Levels. The walk will return through Taunton town centre, finishing at 3.30 pm. For those that wish to, there is the option to stop in a café for a hot drink and a chat before heading home.
As this is a `winter’ walk, we have been advised to remind you that you take part in the walk at your own risk. Please note the walk will still go ahead in the event of bad weather (unless it is severe) and will be adapted if needed, depending on the weather, so please come well prepared for all conditions. Some of the walk will be in Taunton on good paths but if it has been wet, the paths through the fields will be muddy so sturdy, suitable footwear will be needed.
For more details and to register, please click on the, 'book for this event' link. Please indicate when registering where you wish to join the walk. Yvonne will contact all registered participants a week before, to clarify the meeting arrangements and give specific details for those meeting in the town centre.
