Bereaved parents and volunteer walk facilitators, David and Fiona are planning their next walk in the Welsh countryside for Saturday 18th March 2023. Meet at 10.00 am for a 10.15 am start.
David and Fiona write:
We warmly invite bereaved parents, grandparents and adult bereaved siblings to join us on a walk in the lovely Dee Valley at the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct UNESCO World Heritage site. Our aim is to bring people together in the countryside where walking provides the background activity, but the focus is on mutual support and encouragement with others who are similarly bereaved. If you haven’t yet walked with us, please don’t feel daunted or apprehensive about joining. You will very quickly find yourself in a friendly, supportive community of others who understand.
On the whole this is a level route, following paved or grassy lanes and paths. The total distance is 4 miles with 150 feet of gentle uphill gradient. It is not hill-walking, but it is the countryside so you should be reasonably fit. As the weather in March can still be quite changeable, we have been advised to remind you that you take part in the walk at your own risk. Please come prepared for all conditions including suitable footwear and waterproofs. Please bring water, and any snacks you will need to keep you going. We are aiming to complete the walk at 12.45 pm and on our return there will be the opportunity to have a drink and/or lunch in the café.
There are public toilets available on site, however there are no facilities along the route. There is a £2 charge for parking and this is deducted from your bill in the café if you decide to join us afterwards.
Please note that if you bring along a friend or relative with you for initial support, they will be unable to join us for the walk itself unless they are also a bereaved parent or adult bereaved sibling.
For more details and to register, please click on the, 'book for this event' link. Once you register, we will be in contact with you by email prior to the walk to give you more information and meeting point details.
Please note, the booking link is now closed for this walk. If you would like to join the walk and haven't yet registered please email info@tcf.org.uk by 2 pm on 17th March. Thank you.
