The Lost City: A NEW London walk led by bereaved dad, Terry
The City of London, a global financial centre, is filled with modern, iconic, ultra modern architecture. Yet, The City started life as Londinium in 47-50AD, a major centre of Roman Britain. Join bereaved dad, Terry, to discover the Lost City; remnants of London’s Roman, Saxon and medieval past, spanning almost two thousand years of civilisation.
This brand new walk will start at Liverpool Street station. meeting from 10.45 for an 11 am. We ask you to please arrive early for a prompt 11 am departure.
We will stop for lunch in the St. Paul’s area where there are lots of cafes, pubs and seating for those wishing to bring a picnic or packed lunch.
The walk will cover approximately 5 miles, finishing at Bank. For those wishing to return to Liverpool Street, it’s only one stop away on the Central Line underground.
The walk should finish around 4pm, when Terry will be stopping for a drink at a traditional pub, and everyone is welcome to join him.
As we will be in The City, this is an urban walk with lots of roads and a stretch of the Thames Path. The City is quieter on the weekend but some areas that are popular with tourists will be busy.
As this is an urban walk, places will be limited to 30 people for safety of all walkers so please book early if you would like to be with us.
If you haven’t walked with us before, please don’t feel daunted or apprehensive about joining on your own. You will very quickly find yourself in a friendly, supportive community of others who are similarly bereaved and understand.
The walks offered by TCF are free and are designed to offer you an opportunity to socialise and chat to other bereaved parents and siblings as well as to offer some exercise to support our mental and physical wellbeing. However, you can if you wish give a voluntary donation at the time you book or at www.tcf.org.uk/donate
Our walks are approximately 5 miles at a steady pace and unfortunately will not be suitable for individuals who require an aid for walking.
Please also note that if you bring along a friend or relative with you for initial support, they will be unable to join us for the walk itself unless they are also a bereaved parent or adult bereaved sibling.
For more details and to register, please click on the, 'book for this event' link. Once you register, we will be in contact with you by email prior to the walk to give you more information and precise meeting point details.
