Totnes and Dartington Hall Park in South Devon

Bereaved parents and TCF volunteers, Yvonne and Teresa, are leading their next TCF walk on Saturday 20th May 2023 in the beautiful area of Totnes in South Devon. Meet at 11am for an 11.15am start.

Yvonne and Teresa write:

Starting from Totnes station, our walk takes us beside the beautiful River Dart, through the Dartington Hall Estate to Dartington and back to Totnes.

We will be walking through meadows and woodland and may spot steam trains running along the opposite river bank. We will also be walking through the historic 700 year old deer park, where we may catch sight of some deer.

The terrain is rough underfoot in places, and may be wet. There are no stiles, but there is a gradual walk uphill from the river though the deer park. Appropriate footwear and a reasonable level of fitness is required.

We plan to stop for a packed lunch in the park where we will be close to a cafe providing the opportunity to purchase extra refreshments, enjoy the scenery and use the toilet facilities.

This is a 5 mile walk and it will finish near to the start point in Totnes. For those who wish to, we are then planning to walk to a cafe in Totnes for refreshments which will add another mile to the walk. You are all welcome to relax together here after the walk before we all head home.

We welcome all bereaved parents, grandparents and bereaved siblings (18 years or over). We look forward to meeting those who have walked with us before, and also welcoming those who are new to our walks. If you haven’t yet walked with us, please don’t feel daunted or apprehensive about joining. You will very quickly find yourself in a friendly, supportive community of other bereaved parents.
